The Project Member Institutions Project Documents E-Book Requirements Enhancement of the CSIDS

Enhancement of the CSIDS

Starting from 2021, libraries of the five member institutes have reviewed the functionality and features of the existing Collection-Sharing and Information Discovery System (CSIDS), and decided to upgrade the system to a new cloud-based library management system and discovery platform, namely the Alma and Primo VE, in July 2023.

The system migration project has been started in December 2021. Since then, all member institutes worked closely in every stages of the project implementation, including to prepare data for migration, to review system configuration and to perform thorough system testing to ensure all new features working well. Regular meetings and training were arranged to enable library staff of member institutes to be proficient in the system. The Alma and Primo VE systems were successfully launched on 12 July 2023.

The new system enabled the member institutes to manage their digital and print resources in the way that these library resources could be delivered to users more efficiently. On the other hand, faculty members and students will also benefit from the improved search functionality and filters to identify their desired results more precisely and effectively among all the available resources, as a result, they can enjoy a more user-centred service.
